Regulators Extend Derivatives Rules Deadline

Reuters is reporting that regulators have postponed the deadline for harmonising supervision of derivatives markets.  The G20 had originally pledged to have regulation in place by the end of 2012.  However, an aspirational goal of September 2013, timed to coincide with the G20 Summit in Russia, has now been agreed so as to allow regulators to deal with outstanding issues, particularly those related to the regulation of cross-border trades.
